Colin Crotty has bred numerous daffodils with deep red in the cup rim. We enjoyed growing Deb's Jewel a lot : we got extreme frilliness and rich contrasty color but maybe not the intense red that we have seen from other environs on the bench. Something easy to take to a daffodil show. Deb's Jewel is an exuberant bloom from New Zealand.

Often I wish there was a common term for large cupped daffs like this with a broad flat and bunched at the center corona. Like Slim Whitman, Pride of Lions, It's a Date, or Dinner Plate, Goudgele Rakker is all about that cup, with the perianth in a supporting role . New Introduction, According to the hybridizer: " Freely translated 'Golden Yellow Mate', this is what we sometimes say in Holland for a pint of beer." Will bring happy camaraderie to the mixed border for sure.

Van Der Veek seedlings tend to be large flowered on strong stems: bred to grow vigorously and stand out in the landscape. This gringo is really free spirited and corpulent, a fruity color that is not sulfury at all.
2 W-Y
A stellar, but older, just-registered, bi-colored large cupped seedling from Brian Duncan. As for the name, "Hard to Beat" may be accurate: in Ireland may be a bit "cheeky", but in New York that's just plain old chutzpeh. Coming to a daffodil show near you soon.
Cross of Fiona Mc Killiop x Queen's Guard.

This registration was at first refused as there was an previous "Hassan" that no one alive has ever seen. I am guessing at the color classification. This Hassan is a vigorous grower and I think has a place in the landscape. A van der Veek introduction.

I have a favorite one... I Love You. That's one that I bred myself and it won first prize at the show in England. then it was still only numbers. And all the old guys were talking about the daffodils and I thought I'd make fun out of them by calling it I Love You so now they have to say I Love You all the time. - Carlos van der Veek.

We are very enamored with Little Spring King, he is one of Carlo's smaller-sized seedlings.Consistently cute as Prince Harry : royal good posture, radiates confidence and blooms well out of the leaves. A triple threat : good for pot culture, good for the rockery, good for exhibition.
