Bulbocodiums, sometimes called "Hoop Petticoats", occur as a species from the Iberian Peninsula through North Africa. Nivalis is a species from the Atlas mountains, small and bright. Bulbocodium grow freely (considered feral) in the south, but may struggle to return in zones below 6B.


Narcissus bulbocodium ssp. bulbocodium var. nivalis. (syn. N. jeanmonodii, N. juressianus, N. subnivalis).
