Androcles pulled a thorn from the paw of a pursuing lion thus befriending him. Androcles the daffodil has calmed and tamed us also, we depend on it in large numbers for the vase and the border. We hesitate to deem Beautiful Dream as a good "filler" flower for the bouquet, although it succeeds any way you see fit to use it. Because of its gentle nature and its ability to elevate its neighbors, you may overlook its strength, frilly cup and lovely coloration. A very successful culitvar- a sport of L'innocence that is gown in great numbers, for forcing and floral work. Because of a Poetaz influence it is hardier than a purebred tazetta. ADS Classic.

Cyclataz is the lovechild of a species CYCLAmineus and the TAZetta Grande Soleil d'Or . Vigorous, floriferous, wild in form, rich in color. Cyclataz does well in pot culture. ADS Historic. ADS Miniature. She is also the parent of three notable offspring : Alec Gray's Jumblie, Quince, and Tête à Tête.

Dainty Miss is a siren's song in the garden. An all-white jonquil she goes it alone, only one two-inch perfectly appointed, dainty-cupped flower per stem please. Wanting a chorus of Dainty Miss for your garden is only natural. Compelling. Benchable. Highly mucronate. Miss Dainty is an ADS Classic, Wister Award winner, a mid century spell of Grant Mitsch witchcraft.

I am a bit dubious as to the advisability of classing this as a jonquil hybrid, but its pedigree lends validity to this placement. A most de- lightful little flower that might be compared with Xit, but it is larger and a flower of more rounded form. Grows much more upright than Ocean Spray. The very flat over- lapping perianth, and small saucer shaped crown are glistening white. Hardly eligible for the miniature class, but a beautiful addition to the smaller varieties sometimes designated as intermediates.

Englander is a cyclamineus seedling that retains just a bit of wildness tempered with high sophistication. Sporting a real long schnoz and slim reflexed petals. Like most Brits, Englander, being a cyclamineus, is not well suited for a afternoon siesta in the blazing sun. An ADS miniature . Fab in the pot and the rockery -- Don't be shy, we grew a lot of Englander.

Erlicheer is an older tazetta sport with bodacious double, strongly scented blooms. Excellent for forcing and for cut flowers. Erlicheer may struggle in Zone 6 even with some winter protection. Grows freely in the South. A singular daffodil. Classified as a double but we all know that it really behaves as a tazetta. Makes an unusually large bulb.

Unusual, unmistakeable and unforgettable Fencourt Jewel is a unique 21st century pink cupped tazetta. Floriferous : beauty and bounty from New Zealand. A truly grand flower. For us in zone 6b it is wonderfully persistent year over year. Worth every penny.

It is not often that a yellow trumpet is found adjacent to the term Intermediate . But Little Alfred sports all of the trumpet flanged and notched cupped bling that you want, but with a "seen not heard" modesty that you like. Lovely color, form and detail. Increases. We think Little Alfred is a candidate for pot culture. ADS Intermediate.

Guilty as charged, for unknown reasons we often overlook Little Jewel , but likely due to youthful excess. This daffodil is perfectly named and rather unique, being that there are not a lot of fully pink-colored small cups. Littel Jewel is a good grower and delicate at the same time -- a very nice bloom.

We planted Littlefield up the street in the neighborv?s vineyard, next to the parking lot, where he competes with mugwort, compacted soil and road salt in an open northern exposure. A large, tall and late jonquil that returns robustly year over year. When the sun hits that green eye , combined with the ever -changing orange on orange color, and the scent : oh Baby ! Signed, sealed and delivered. A truly great Jonquil, I was surprised when it popped up on the list. Quantity pricing.

An abundance of broad, substantial, wavy and white flowers on a scape bring a spirit of opulence to the bed, bench, and bunch. Nickelodeon is a modern poetaz, from Grand Monarque, and from New Zealand too. A remarkable flower that we recommend without a moment's hesitation.

From an anonymous origin, Orange Queen is a wavy cupped old jonquil . Classified as a dwarf, she is more imposing than implied, freely growing and floriferous to three blooms on a stem. Good North and South. ADS Historic.

A selection of species Asturiensis. Section pseudonarcissus. A primordial being with a formidable will to live. A tiny daffodil, so early, with purity in color and form. As this is a selection of a species, Carlos has named it Piccolini to differentiate. When this flower breaks free from the ground in early spring one's mood swells from hope to faith.

On the march to year round daffodils Polar Hunter is on the vanguard; an April / October romance of a fall blooming viridiflorus species crossed with a spring bloomer. Polar Hunter breaks ground in late winter and proceeds to blossom at a leisurely pace. Because of its conspicuous substance and long lasting abundant blooms, florists and landscape designers take notice of this attractive and truly remarkable cultivar.

Sissy is one seriously sassy narcissus. Daddy of Sissy is a species cyclamineus and the spirit shows. It is hard to believe that anything so simple could be so stunningly beautiful. Its perfection shines in pot culture or in the vase. Quantity Pricing.

Snipe is early and photogenic. Extremely perennial and cyclamineus proud. A truly great cultivar that is at home in the rockery and in the pot. We are offering it in the cut flower category, its blooms are too small to cut, but forced in a pot it is long lasting and adorable : we think the florists will know how to use it.

Not to be confused with the 6 W-Y cyclamineus ´†Jack Snipe†ª, who is nice , but by comparison is lacking in charisma.

Snowboardis an all around athlete . An all-white large cup, this is a daffodil that is a stellar performer equally in a pot, in the border or on the show bench. Broad ovate petals and a touch of green in the cup. The dude is a van der Veek seedling.

For the last half a century Tamar Fire has been a consistent work horse in the daffodil garden. An intermediate double, Tamar is exemplary in rich colors and works multiple jobs : in the border , in competition, and as a dependable pollen parent. While a bit variable, as doubles can be, it is easy to get fine, competition quality blooms.

Here's a compact and sunny recent introduction that we are excited about. Tangerine Beauty, an intermediate, has a distinct and happy orange large-cup that is constrained and baroque at the same time. A breathy yellow color brushes across the well-formed white petals. Good points.

Daffodils are cold loving flowers; we shiver a bit when someone gives a daffodil a tropical name. But this is an American bred, beefy golden pink double that can take on any latitude, Cancer or Capricorn. Strong stem and long lasting, you will want that. Fertile. Best for cuts. Quantity pricing.
